BLAIR WITCH AREA

Supposedly the Blair Witch movie was filmed in the woods near these rocks.

The bouldering is on a short exposed cliff band and a boulder or two. My recommendation is to climb everything at the gorge before going to this area. Having climbed at Harpers Ferry since 1996 I began to run out of new rock to keep me psyched. Unless you are in a similar situation I would stay at the gorge.

The climbing is about 100 feet east of the the Appalachian Trail south of Gapland State Park. It takes about 15 minutes of easy hiking from the parking lot to reach this small area. Since the hike is along the mountain top there is very little elevation change.

There is one really classic problem here. It’s called the “Blair Witch” and you can see a picture of this overhang below.
