Land of First Light
This area
has never been mapped or publicized in detail. With development comes the loss
of the unexplored, the frontier that permits us to discover and feel as though
we are the first or at least among only a few to have travelled to or through a
land. If and when you search out the climbing in the Land of First Light walk
and consider the history that pervades every inch of this mountain. Soldiers of
both the North and South armies in the American Civil War walked, fought, lived
and died in these woods.
I will tell
you that this area has one really nice 12-15ft high block facing east, and a
variety of other smaller stones. Mostly you’ll find whitetail deer, peace,
quiet, and early morning light.
