SKINK ROCK
Maryland
Traditional – Top Rope
Skink Rock is a great cliff about
400 yards north of Maryland Heights. We named this cliff Skink Rock after a
skink that soloed our project the first time we
visited this cliff. You might say he “skinked” us on the first ascent.
Some of these climbs are trad leadable and others are more
safely done on top rope. The classic dihedral in the right photo is short but
top quality. This cliff has many high quality climbs. The current range of
grades is approximately 5.5-5.12.
Look for more information to
come out on these cliffs in the next year. This cliff is a huge hit with nearly
everyone who visits it.
You’ll see this boulder (Skink Rock Boulder)
from above but you can’t see the cliff that is below. It is a good landmark to
go by.
